Night One: Welcome

Hello and welcome to The Grand Odyssey Blog.

After twenty-two years of delicate rearing and education, Zach Borichevsky, Andrew Ferrett, Andy Gilmour, Pete McCarthy, and Jason Merrill are expanding nationwide.

Day One is now mostly behind us and we decamped at Indiana, Pennsylvania in Pete's educational home. We started leaving at around 12:30, a procedure which included a close encounter with a gas station bandit and a fortuitous new-camera hand-off from a UPS driver. At Jason's residence, we maximized our 2002 Honda Odyssey's spatial environment and made Patrick Merrill's day with 400,000 mocha chocolate granola bars. We departed Chalfont at 3pm.

On the road, we enjoyed several mix cds, several mad libs, and a paradisical array of XM radio stations. With GPS Sacajewea and POS Pete as her guide, the HMMV Penelope glided smoothly across much of Pennsylvania, with the travelers comfortably in tow. (Her Majesty's Mini Van, of course)

At 7:30, we rolled into destination number one: the depceptively named Indiana, Pennsylvania. This is Pete's home most of the year, while he attends college here. The first thing we saw was a fire truck spewing water into a business park pond. One would have to try very hard to imagine James Stewart swimming in that pond. But he might have, because Indiana is his hometown. Pete's middle name is James.

Pete lives in a food and gasoline paradise, with a Giant Eagle supermarket, a KFC, and a Sheetz just seconds from his front porch. Our first stop was the Giant Eagle

where we requisitioned rice-a-roni, pork chops, broccoli, applesauce, milk, and other necessities. Jason proceeded to cook up some fine pork chops, which we enjoyed in the kitchen.

Then we created this blog.

We hope to enjoy an evening stroll around town, and we hope you enjoy our Grand Odyssey.

Addendum:

We did indeed enjoy a lovely nighttime stroll through Indiana and IUP's picturesque campus, in the process taking our photo with a statue of the town's most famous son, Jimmy Stewart:

We then returned to Pete's house, took in the first episode of The Office, and retired upon his living room floor and couch.
