Day Eleven: The California Coast to Oakland

We left Oregon for California today, and took our TVP (Typical Van Picture) on the way out, with the added bonus of Ferrett's Aunt Elaine and Uncle Howard.

Our first experience in California was just over the border at a gas station. Jason reacted to the prices:

But we're getting ahead of ourselves: Day 11 began in Oregon and went on for quite a while until we rolled into Zach’s aunt and uncle’s home in Oakland, CA. On the way, we took in two of the West Coast’s trademark natural wonders: the Redwoods…

…and the Pacific Ocean.

Ah, but we never touched it. Pete says he cannot believe that we didn’t touch the Pacific, but we did touch Route 1 and lots of it. The meandering hairpin switchbacks will live on in infamy.

In Oakland, we passed out quickly.

Do you have an ETA for Austin yet? We have to go out of town on Friday night for the weekend, so hoping it is Thursday. Let me know. - Damian
