With
Canada under our belts and the potatoes of
Idaho at our backs, we raged on (sans phone reception) to the
Evergreen State and her fair
Seattle.
Being without phone reception is a funny thing, unless of course you are looking for a place to stay in
Seattle. Then it is even funnier.
Eventually we found phone reception and a place to lay our heads in the Kings Inn right downtown.
Experience Music Project was our first destination. It’s a museum put together by former Microsoft big shot Paul Allen and it features the largest collection of Jimi Hendrix memorabilia in the world; only fitting, Seattle being his hometown and all. The collection was awesome—complete with lots of handwritten lyrics and many of his guitars and outfits. Jason, Zach, and Pete made a recording of the Supermarket Song in the “music studio” area, where you’re allowed to practice for 10 minutes and then record for 10 minutes with drums, keyboard, and guitar in a sound-proof studio. This narrator would have tried to stop them if he had been there. He was not though, and you can look for the CD in stores this fall.
Space Needle! Certainly a tourist must, well at least according to the size of the gift shop.
