Day Three: Recap

This entry will be somewhat shorter, as we are all quite tired.

Day Three started with Zach awakening very early (6:20am) in Ferrett's roommate Dave's house in Mansfield after a pleasant slumber on the couch. Everyone eventually joined him in his wakefulness and departed from Ryan's driveway around 10:30.

Big freight train slowed us down
Everybody wore a frown
On Route 13 in O-hi-o
Hazard lights started to glow
The empty boxcars came and came
We got out the cameras to record same
But just as we stepped from the car
We saw the end more near than far
When the caboose came down the track
To Penelope we hurried back

This song recounts a notable event that slowed us down a bit. GPS Sacajewea refrained from saying "Told ya so."

At 5pm, Central Daylight Time, we rolled into Chicago. More on this later.

Addendum:

Upon our arrival, Brian Becker brought us to an Italian restaurant where we enjoyed authentic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. The tomato sauce was on top: interesting. We proceeded to head to the Hancock Tower. There, we were treated with a dramatic sunset and had some good times.

After that, we headed to a Blues club (appropriately named B.L.U.E.S.). Zach captured a video of an amusing saxophone solo that you might be able to see someday (too big to post here).

Brian's girlfriend, Belinda, then led us to a diner where we consumed some delicious milkshakes and spoke with some Chicago natives. We crammed into Brian's car to return to his apartment and slept comfortably on an air mattress and a futon.

Gorgeous photos of that sunset...I need to see Chicago someday. (I don't think singing with the chamber singers in Evanston counts)
